The 2011 Florida Diversity & Leadership Conference aims to providing a platform for dialogue on inclusion and diversity related issues that impact the state. The theme for this year’s conference is “Wind of Change.” There is no doubt that our country is experiencing change. For the first time in history, there is a person of color as the President of the United States. Second, due to immigration, we see a major shift in the demographics of our country and thus our workplace. Therefore, there is more emphasis on “Diversity” than ever before. The question becomes, how are organization’s managing this change. Smart organizations adapt to change which is truly a reflection of their leadership. Whereas some organization hold on to the pass. The latter do so at the detriment of their organization. With DiversityFIRST™ as our mantra, our hope is that the conference will provide organizations the opportunity to learn and grow as well as an opportunity to share best practices and strategies in order to integrated diversity through out their entire organization.
DiversityFIRST™ will also recognize the contributions of numerous corporate, small-business, academic and community leaders who have championed the value of diversity as a business imperative in our state. Their leadership has fostered organizational change, instilled commitment, encouraged advocacy, and sparked innovation that have positively impacted the work environment and health of our communities.
Through a series of panel discussions, keynote addresses and interactive sessions, participants will explore corporate practices, leadership skills, communication strategies and outreach initiatives intended to leverage the benefits of diversity initiatives. The goal of the Florida Diversity & Leadership Conference is to tap into and share the DiversityFIRST™ ethos.
