Katharine Eagan is Chief Executive Officer of the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART). HART provides nearly 50,000 passenger trips a day and about 15 million trips a year. Ms. Eagan took the helm of HART in May 2014. Under her leadership, the Authority provides safe, innovative, and high quality transit services in Hillsborough County by partnering with employees, customers, stakeholders, and our communities throughout the county. She has greatly expanded public-private partnerships with entities such as MegaBus, Red Coach, and Coast Bike Share, and HART is continuing to pursue partnerships that provide travel options beyond traditional buses.
Prior to stepping into the role of CEO, Eagan was HART’s Chief Operating Officer. During her tenure, annual ridership grew by more than 20 percent and farebox recovery exceeded 25 percent. She led the Authority’s launch of new technologies including the OneBusAway Tampa app and making open source data readily available online.
Eagan, who originally joined HART in 2009 as Chief of Service Development, holds a Master of Public Administration from Angelo State University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, is the Vice President of the Tampa chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. She is currently a member of the national Transit Cooperative Research Panel’s Oversight and Project Selection Committee, and was nominated for the White House’s 2015 Champions of Change – Beyond Traffic: Transit Innovators award.
Eagan and her husband Chris Kelleman are the proud parents of two delightful sons.
