Lucas Hernandez
Media Innovation
Knight Foundation
Lucas Hernandez joined Knight Foundation in August 2014. He manages the Knight News Challenge and grants focused on open government and open information.
Hernandez first began at Knight in June 2014 as an intern working with the Strategy and Assessment department. Prior to Knight, he worked for the city of New York supporting entrepreneurs to start, operate and expand their businesses within the five boroughs. He has led a variety of civic engagement organizations and founded a student philanthropic organization in 2012.
Hernandez was born and raised in South Florida and has also lived in Dallas and Rochester, N.Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Rollins College where he was a Presidential Fellow and Cornell Scholar.
