Michael Goldberg is the Chief Executive Officer of Zimmerman, the leading retail growth machine in the country. His twenty-five years of experience in the advertising industry have allowed him to fulfill his desire to understand people better and influence consumer behavior through creative expression. Michael was raised to see that unity between people can always create better outcomes than defining differences – especially with matters such as faith, gender and race. This outlook has shaped his approach to business and life.
Michael has dedicated his professional life to driving business growth for clients. He believes that winning is an all or nothing proposition and he knows the only way an agency really wins is when the client wins first. His success stems from understanding the power of an integrated idea and the belief that behind every brand is a business, and that it’s an agency’s job to grow both. In an industry intoxicated by what could be done, Michael is proud to lead an agency powered by what should be done. He knows it’s the surest way to secure a win for all.
Michael brings to Zimmerman unbridled aspiration and unique full-circle perspective. Media taught him about investment. Account work taught him about expectations. Planning taught him about insight and creativity. New business taught him about competitiveness and growth. Public relations taught him about content and influence. And while his time at Deutsch taught him about craft and culture, Michael has always credited his time at Zimmerman with teaching him true responsibility. Today, he works to share those lessons with his entire team.
Michael has worked with companies in virtually every sector of the retail industry as well as iconic brands Del Monte, Hershey, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Target, Bombardier, Marriott and Carnival. Although he’s worked on many Effie, Clio and Lion-winning initiatives, Michael finds nothing more rewarding than seeing a client grow.
His personal life is dedicated to his four girls—his wife Barbara and his daughters Carly, Emily and Hannah—who are his oxygen, his dog Cosmo (94 pounds of Lab buddy), his Up With People alumni status and his love of show tunes (yes, really).
